An object fell at an emotionally suggestive moment. The timing was notable. The physics was sufficient.
An incident is entered into the record
During a therapy group, a backpack slipped from a chair and landed on the floor. Conversation stopped. The sound arrived at precisely the sort of moment when a human mind is tempted to promote coincidence into commentary.
The bag had weight. The chair offered limited support. A strap hung beyond the edge, and the center of mass was not under long-term administrative control. Gravity remained on duty.
The ordinary account is not an insult
Saying that the bag was poorly balanced does not mock the people in the room or diminish whatever they were discussing. It simply declines to recruit the universe as an additional group facilitator.
We are pattern-finding creatures. That ability helps us learn and survive. It also means that timing can feel authored when it is merely timing. The proper response is not shame. It is one more question: what evidence would distinguish a message from an object losing support?
Wonder survives the investigation
A world in which matter follows reliable patterns is not a lesser world. Reliability lets floors support us, chairs hold us, and dropped bags return without divine case management.
Not judgment. Not omen. Not cosmic commentary. The backpack simply joined the floor. The incident is closed, though gravity continues to accept new cases.
